Our Story

The John Bull Chophouse has long been more than just a building. For generations, it has been a place where people have gathered with family and friends, celebrated special occasions, supported local events and made memories that have lasted a lifetime. It holds a special place in the hearts of many people across Wigan and beyond.

Following the devastating fire, the future of this much-loved venue was suddenly thrown into doubt. Seeing such an important part of our community damaged has been heartbreaking, but the response from local people has shown just how much the John Bull means to so many.

The Save the John Bull Chophouse campaign was created to bring that community together. Our aim is to raise funds through donations, fundraising events and raffles to support the recovery of the John Bull and give it the best possible chance of welcoming people back through its doors.

This campaign is driven by the belief that places like the John Bull matter. They are where friendships are formed, milestones are celebrated and communities come together. Losing them means losing part of our local identity.

Every donation, every raffle ticket, every event attended and every shared post helps move us one step closer to our goal. Together, we can protect an important part of Wigan’s heritage and show the power of a community coming together when it’s needed most.
